Beamish 2019 - FAQs
Below are a range of questions/ information regarding our visit.
Do I need anything specific for the trip?
Beamish is an open air museum. We will be spending most of our time outside and walking between sites.
Kit list. A minimum kit list will be available before we set off on our journey. This will tell you what needs to be packed.
A waterproof jacket is essential. A fully waterproof pac-mac is better than a semi-waterproof designer jacket.
Boots/ Wellies. Beamish has a range of different terrains from grass, mud tracks to paved paths. It is important to have footwear that will keep your feet dry.
Roll mat and sleeping bag. Young people will need a roll mat and sleeping bag as beds are not provided.
Do I need/ how much spending money?
There will be opportunities to spend money at the gift shop, sweet shop and bakery.
Spending money is optional and is not required. £10 should be more than enough to spend between these places.
Packing your kit - some tips.
Try to pack everything into one bag. One bag is much easier to manager than lots of carrier bags/ smaller bags hanging off each other.
Children should pack their own bags. This means they know where everything is in their bag.
